Sporades Islands - Skiathos

If you have ever heard of any of the Greek islands, you have probably heard of the Sporades Island that is Skiathos. Although well known, Skiathos is also the smallest island in the cluster, measuring only fourteen kilometers from one end to the other. Because of its location and its popularity, Skiathos has become known and loved as a tourist destination for average people and superstars alike.

Skiathos developed as a tourist location much faster than many of the other Sporades Islands simply because it is hoe to an airport that receives flights from many other European nations almost every hour of every day. However, an airport is just an airport; people keep coming back to Skiathos because it is a beautiful and magnificent place to tour and visit over and over again. Each time you visit Skiathos, you will experience something new and see something you have never seen before.

Skiathos is similar to other islands in the Sporades Island cluster in that it is full of life and full of green trees and lush vegetation. And, like other islands, it is home to spectacular sandy beaches that dominate the entire southern coastline of Skiathos Island. With over sixty beaches to choose from, you and your family will have your choice of pristinely clean waters, warm golden sand, and an amazing selection of water sports. And, with the recent opening of a scuba school at Tsanerias beach, you can learn the finer points of scuba diving. If you’re looking for something other than the beach, you can also learn to explore the island on a horse at the riding school or play tennis on perfect clay courts.

If you are not interested in the crowds that come with the popularity of Skiathos, you should venture to the northern coast, which is more rugged and undeveloped compared to the popular southern coast. Even though it is not developed, it is on the northern coast that you can find some of the most amazing beaches and sands that have ever been captured with the naked eye.

The main town on Skiathos is as cosmopolitan as they come, so if you are looking for a comfortable world similar to the one you left behind, then the main town of Skiathos is perfect for you. No matter what you are looking for, it can be found on Skiathos.
