Saronic Islands - Angistri
After exploring some of the bigger islands that are part
of the Saronic Islands cluster,
you may be looking for somewhere that is a little smaller
and a little more intimate. There are plenty of islands
that are uninhabited and completely natural, and there
are plenty that are smaller and offer a more unique experience.
If you are looking for somewhere a little more off the
beaten path, plan on adding Angistri Island to your travels.
Close enough to Athens to allow
easy access to the mainland; Angistri Island is a great
winter vacation location. Also located near Aegina, Angistri
Island is home to beautiful fine sandy beaches. However,
if you are not open to new experiences, Angistri Island
may not be for you.
Plainly put, Angistri Island is home to one of the first
naturist beaches in all of the Greek Islands. So, if you
are looking for a place where you can, well, let it all
hang out, Angistri Island may be for you. Because of these
beaches and more adult-centered entertainment, Angistri
Island is perhaps one of the least family-friendly islands
in both the Saronic Islands and the entire Greek Island
system.
Please do not misunderstand; not every beach on Angistri
Island is like this, and there are things to do there
that do not involve any uncovering, alcohol, or nightlife.
Like all islands, it is home to incomparable scenery and
vistas. Angistri is also rooted
in Greek history and has many unique stories that
can only come to life when you visit Angistri. The information
above about the prevalence of nudity is meant only for
information, not to discourage nor encourage someone to
experience all that is available on Angistri Island.
In addition to the world-renown
beaches, Angistri Island is also home to several popular
and amazing taverns and the famous Agistriclub Hotel.
People who visit Greece often are familiar with the nightlife
and adult-life of Angistri Island. If you are looking
for a calm and quiet place to spend your vacation, or
if you are not comfortable with this, you probably want
to avoid Angistri Island. Although it is perfect for some
people and enjoyed year-round, both those that visit the
island and those that call it home would agree—Angistri
Island is simply not for everyone. Make sure you know
what you are comfortable with before you visit Angistri
Island.
